What we’ve done

This site was built and tested to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. Testing covered every page and combined automated scanning with hands-on keyboard and screen-reader review. Among other things:

• Every page works with a keyboard alone, including a “skip to content” link
• The rotating photo and testimonial sections have a visible pause button
• Images and graphics carry text alternatives for screen readers
• Text and controls meet WCAG color-contrast requirements
• Forms announce errors and confirmations to assistive technology
• The online payment form shows the total, and the Pay button repeats the exact amount, so you can check it before your card is charged

Known limitations

• Some headlines and buttons are graphics that contain styled text. Each one has a full text alternative, so screen readers get the same information, but the text inside these images doesn’t resize the way regular text does.
• The “Ask This Old House” video in our Ice Dams FAQ comes from a third party. It has automatic captions only and no audio-described version, and we aren’t able to change that. The video is optional — nothing else on the site depends on it.
