Services From American Gutter
Gutter Cleaning
Our trained staff will hand clean all gutters and bag all debris for proper disposal. All gutters are fully cleaned and flushed including all downspouts and elbows. The entire system is evaluated for damages and if any problems are found, they will be reported to the customer within 48 hours.
Cleaning Contracts
We offer service contracts where we thoroughly clean and flush the gutter system with a free maintenance inspection twice, three, or four times a year. The customer receives a 10% discount for 2 or more cleanings. If any needed repairs are found homeowner will be notified within 48 hours. No repairs will be made without the homeowners’ authorization.
How Long It Takes
Call today and we’ll have your cleaning booked within two weeks (weather permitting). And in most cases, our services don’t require the homeowner to be home.
Gutter Installation
At American Gutter we install Seamless Aluminum Gutters. We use .032 gauge gutter coil aluminum and .019 gauge drainpipes with related accessories. Gutters are available in 5″ and 6″ widths and use “C-bar hangers” with (2) 1.25″ screws per hanger, placed 16″ apart to insure maximum strength.

Gutter Cap is a clog free gutter protection system. It works with surface tension combined with capillary action. The patented design allows rainwater to adhere to the dome of the cap while leaves and debris blow off the roof. The existing gutter system is now a free-flowing roof drainage system.

Gutter Screens prevent the large oak and maple leaves from clogging your gutters. They do not prevent pine needles. On average, you will need your gutters cleaned about every two years.

Why do I need gutters installed?

What are ice dams & how can I prevent them?
Ice dams can occur on roofs when snow accumulated on the roof line melts and refreezes due to the escape of heat through the attic or roof of your home due to poor insulation. Ice dams occur even on homes without gutters and the best thing to do is address you insulation needs, but also make sure to get a cleaning before the deep freeze that starts around mid-January, so it allows for water from melting ice to flow through the gutters and away from the roof line.
A Quick Education on Ice Dams
We live in New England where the weather changes in the blink of an eye. Winter can be brutal causing issues that can potentially damage your home both inside and out. Icicles that form off of your roof line are the indicator of a larger issue: ice dams. Ice dams are the result of snow that thaws on the roof and refreezes once it hits the roof line and usually occurs due to the varying external temperatures as well as heat escaping from the homes attic.
Damages
Damage often occurs when the dams that have settled on the roof line begin to melt. Often, ice will form under the shingles as well as behind the flashing. This flashing is meant to protect the fascia board as well as the wood behind that makes up the construction of the house. This melting ice can cause water damage on the walls and ceiling of the home. This shouldn’t be ignored as water that gets into the house can seep into electrical outlets and switches and can cause serious issues for homeowners.
What you can do to prevent ice dams
In some instances, ice dams cannot be avoided. Weather conditions in the area can cause homes with and without gutters to allow ice dams to form. Some steps you can take to lessen the issue would first be to ensure that there is proper attic insulation. Having too little insulation allows for the heat to escape and exacerbates the issue. Also, there needs to be a ventilation system that is uninterrupted along the eaves and ridge of the roof. Improper ventilation causes condensation issues that makes the situation worse. Another route is by making sure that there is a rubber underlayment beneath the shingles for protection. Heating wires and coils have shown to have great results if used properly. Of course, using a roof rake immediately can help as getting the snow off the roof eliminates the chance for ice dams to form. Always make sure to get your gutters cleaned out before the winter time. Properly cleaned gutters can allow for this melting to have a route to travel, but it is not a fail-safe.
How often do I need them cleaned?
Gutters should be cleaned twice a year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall. If your lot is heavily wooded, consider adding a third annual cleaning.
